Windows 10 pc download speed only at around 30-35 Mbps when paying for a 100 Mbps download speed. Why?

Booting to usb ubuntu shows speed at 100 Mbps.

Using Realtek PCIe GbE Family Controller, driver updated to one from Realtek site dated 6/15/18.

I also have two machines, both plugged into the same switch from the cable modem. One runs at the full speed of 100 Mbps and the one in question is 30-35 Mbps. I don't notice any type of network monitoring software and have done a full Malwarebytes scan.

Edit: https://speedof.me/show.php?img=181127235217-5363.png 35 Down on only one PC still. Not sure why I get inconsistent results.

  • How exactly are you measuring the download speed?

  • Google's speed tester. I just tried speedtest.net and got different results. Why would that be? Google's speed tester said 35, but speedtest.net says the full 100. Is there a more accurate test? I am unsure why Google gives 35 on that pc but 100 on another.
