BaseInputConnection doesn't send non-ascii characters in Android WebView

0

I’m facing a weird issue that I couldn’t find a proper solution in Android WebView.

We were facing a few issues such as

  • keyboard events were delayed

  • backspace event is not sent

  • Some other key-map issues

In order to solve this problem, we override onCreateInputConnection and use BaseInputConnection as proxy.

override fun onCreateInputConnection(editorInfo: EditorInfo) = BaseInputConnection(this, false)

But now, we face an issue that non-ascii characters are not sent at all. I tried to intercept when they are dispatched, did a few adjustment, nothing worked so far.

Is there anyone faced a similar issue? I feel that I need to provide a custom InputConnection implementation which handles this case.
