Word for door that leads to the garage from inside the house?

0

I have a garage door where my cars enter and leave. There's also a person-sized door that enters my house from the garage. I would normally also refer to this as the "garage door", but that's very confusing since it's 2 words to describe vastly different doors that both lead to the garage.

What is the proper word for each door where both words aren't "garage door"?

"Door to the garage" is what I've generally used.

  • So that people will remember to close it, the best thing to call it is a fire door (because it should be, per code oftentimes), but door manufacturers have to be more specific (e.g., house-to-garage door).

  • There are front door and back door for other entrances, but this one is "door to garage" or "house to garage door" ?

  • @HotLicks So do I, although if it's necessary to specify that the door is a direct access from the house to the garage I have seen "internal door to the garage" to distinguish it from a personal door in the outside wall of the garage. I don't believe that there is an equivalent to "front door" or "back door" for the door we're discussing, proably because they aren't sufficiently common to justify one.

  • @BoldBen - I would use "side door of the garage" or "back door of the garage" to refer to a door from the garage to the outside. I've never heard of any more specific terminology (though there may be some terms the door salesmen use).
