How to force Firefox to load all images on this Mediawiki gallery?

Context

The page https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Didym/Mobile_upload/2019_January_17-21 is a gallery of recently uploaded pictures, and I check it every few days to detect spam.

Problem

My browser only shows about 50% of the pictures. The other half does not show up, probably some kind of Mediawiki-side or Firefox-side timeout:

enter image description here

If I press Enter on the URL again, some more pictures load, so I get like 60%. But I never get 100%. It wastes a lot of time and makes me less efficient.

The same problem occurs with Chromium too.

I have never experienced this problem on other websites.

Question

How to fix this?

For instance, is there a way to tell Firefox to retry images that failed to load? Or some extension that would make Firefox more gentle when loading large numbers of files from Wikimedia servers?

  • Try using standard gallery sizes, it's not too much difference visually and those get cached. You are asking the thumbnailing servers to make hundereds of custom thumbnails for you on the fly, that's not going to work and at some point your user/IP will get throttled which is why you probably get the errors.
