How to choose which fixture to use in parametrized test
My testing suite has multiple fixutures, and I'd like to pass these fixutres into parametrized tests, see example bellow:
import pytest
@pytest.fixture(params=[
[1,2,3],[1],
]
def fixture1(request):
return list(request.param)
@pytest.fixture(params=[
{'a':1,'b':2,'c':3},{'a':1},{}
]
@pytest.fixture
def fixture2(request):
return dict(request.param)
@pytest.mark.parametrize(['structure'],[(fixture1,fixture2)])
def test_structure_has_length(structure):
assert len(structure)
This is a basically what I want to do, but this results in TypeError
because structure
variable is acutally a function. In example above I could just change the assert line to:
assert len(structure())
However in my codebase fixutres have other dependencies that I don't want to pass to the test.
I should point out that I really want two have fixtures because they produce objects that are related but have enough disimilarities to be tested differently, and yet they have things in common which is why I want them in same tests in certain cases.
python pytest

You can't pass fixtures as parameters in themark.parametrize
hook. See issue #349 for more details.
