I just finished a fresh lubuntu install and wanted to setup VSC and Rust. I installed Rust with Rustup and then installed VSC and the RLS extension.

Then I tried opening a Rust project on an internal drive (booting from a full install on an sd card) and immediately started getting errors.

On opening a Rust project (when the extension is supposed to be completing RLS integration):

Failed to save 'player.rs': A system error occurred (EROFS: read-only file system, open '/media/user/OS/Users/user/Desktop/CodeProjects/Rust/netle/src/player.rs')

When saving a change to that project on the laptops internal storage:

Failed to save: A system error occurred (EROFS: read-only file system...)

If I make a new file or make changes to ordinary text files on the boot partition I don't experience any errors.

I checked the filesystem and the project folder to see if they are read-only, but my user owns them and I have read and write access to them.

There are a number of issues on the VSC github page that are similar but don't seem to be the same.

Thank you for your time!
