How to Store an Asynchronous Response in a ASP.NET User Control TextBox?

0

I have a DNN 9 custom module that I'm customizing with a new payment gateway. I need to store results from asynchronous API calls in a TextBox that's part of a User Control (.ascx) and write the value to the database.

My asynchronous request is as follows:

private static async Task<string> HostedTransactionResponse()
{
var credentials = GetCredentials();
TransactionResult_ProPay result = new TransactionResult_ProPay();
HttpClient client = new HttpClient();
HttpRequestMessage request = new HttpRequestMessage();
HttpResponseMessage response = new HttpResponseMessage();
GatewaySetting_ProPay gatewaySetting = new GatewaySetting_ProPay();
CreateHostedTransactionRequest transactionRequest = new CreateHostedTransactionRequest();
CreateHostedTransactionResponse transactionResponse = new CreateHostedTransactionResponse();
HttpContent content = new StringContent(transactionRequest.ToString());
try
{
request.Headers.Add("Authorizatoin", credentials);
response = await client.PutAsync(gatewaySetting.TestUrl, content);
}
catch (HttpException ex)
{
result.Succeeded = false;
result.ResultMessage = ex.Message;
}

return response.Content.ToString();
}

Part of my user control code behind consists of:

objItem.R_ProPay_Enable = chkR_ProPay_Enable.Checked;
objItem.R_ProPay_Id = txtR_ProPay_Id.Text;

UserController.Update(objItem);

When I click the Update button on the user interface, my intent is that a Payer ID is obtained and returned to the site, written to the appropriate database field and also valued in the txtR.ProPay_Id.Text property.

Unfortunately that is not happening. How do I remedy this?

  • Where are you calling your async request? Most likely the page has been rendered and send back to the client before your async request has been completed.
