My input field in in Bootstrap modal box and this modal box is opened on a button click.

This code triggers when the button to show modal is clicked.
I added timeout and it started working on android but still not working on IOS.(Chrome /Safari)

I tried many solutions but no one is working here.

$.focus() not working

manually trigger focus on input Iphone issue

THis is my code:

 setTimeout(function(){
1// $("#makeInput").click();
2// $('#makeInput').click().focus();
3// $('#makeInput').trigger('touchstart');
},1000);

THis is my input field:

<input type="search" placeholder="Search" id="makeInput" autofocus="autofocus">

  • It works when the input field is empty but when the input field has some text in it it does not work.

  • Could you please check which is the active element in the DOM before you trigger the focus function $(document.activeElement).attr('id');
