Are we hitting some limits in Windows Server 2016? Or why this odd problm? Selenium stale reference. Too many...
I am working on a team with four developers and a project using Robot Framework, Selenium and PyCharm (this environment probably hasn't a direct connection with our problem but I included it for completeness).
Since a week or so, frequently when we run our code we get an error message "stale element reference element is not attached to the page document" in Selenium. This usually happens the second or third time we run our code after a restart of PyCharm and solving it means restarting PyCharm. Restarting PyCharm every five minutes is quite quickly getting old.
Our first guess was that the problem, since restarting PyCharm fixed it temporarily, was caused by low memory (we had other odd problems that seemed to be caused by that where freeing up some memory worked as a remedy) but after some closer examinations low memory doesn't seem to be the problem: this (virtual) server has 16 GB of memory and this happens even when 30-40 % of the memory is free.
My next guess is that we hit some other limits in the OS. I think I know that there are limits on how many files that can be open simultaneously, network ports and similar, but I am no Windows admin so now I am just guessing. Therefore, I am also unsure if this question belongs here or Stackoverflow or some other site. Please bear with me!
So, why can we run our code once or twice but after that consistently get an error? We do start from a fresh environment every time we launch our code (that is, a new browser with default settings).
