Get Remote File Contents Into Redis Using SCPClient Without Writing to File
I want to grab some remote files from a server, and stick them in a Redis cache. Currently I'm downloading them to disk using scp and paramiko
from paramiko import SSHClient
from scp import SCPClient
ssh = SSHClient()
ssh.load_system_host_keys()
remote_path = r"/local/foo/some_directory"
local_path = r"/Users/batman/some_directory"
target_file = "bar.txt"
with SCPClient(ssh.get_transport()) as client:
remote_file = os.path.join(remote_path, target_file)
local_file = os.path.join(local_path, target_file)
client.get(remote_file, local_file)
But what I really want to do is stick the file contents into a Redis cache. I can read the file into memory once it's been downloaded, and stick it in the cache, but I'd rather avoid that step if I can.
Is there a way to use scp to get the file contents as string?
