Excel will hang whenever I save files that have links to other spreadsheets
I work with very large Excel files, (e.g. 400MB plus) and recently encountered an issue that when saving (or autosaving) a file that has a few simple links such as
=sumif('[filename]Data!'$B$3:$B$30000,B15)
.. I will get a very long hanging period of a couple of hours plus.
Normally the file sizes give me no issues as I have ample RAM (64gb). I can not find anyone else on Google that has a similar issue but I am positive it only happens when I try and save files with links to other spreadsheets.
I can get around it by calculating in the external worksheets and copying the values in but obviously I would rather not have to do that.
Thanks!

As a test, copy '[filename]Data!'$B$3:$B$30000 into your workbook, link to that data then check that the external link is gone. If saving is faster then the link is the problem.
