use account name as variable in export path of samba share
I have a Debian server hosting Samba shares that I mount on numerous Windows boxes. For security reasons I have created individual samba users with passwords that aren't synced with the OS's or using PAM.
On the server I have folders like so:
/data/user1/docs
/data/user2/docs
/data/...../docs
Is it possible to write one export such that each user can only browse/read/write their own share? So user1
would authenticate and it would only show them /data/user1/docs
?
If it matters, here is my smb.comf
and usermap.txt
:
smb.conf
:
[global]
security = user
encrypt passwords = true
guest account = nobody
server string = %h server (Samba, Debian)
username map = /etc/samba/usermap.txt
workgroup = WORKGROUP
dns proxy = no
log file = /var/log/samba/log.%m
max log size = 1000
syslog = 0
panic action = /usr/share/samba/panic-action %d
server role = standalone server
passdb backend = tdbsam
obey pam restrictions = yes
unix password sync = yes
passwd program = /usr/bin/passwd %u
passwd chat = *Entersnews*spassword:* %nn *Retypesnews*spassword:* %nn *passwordsupdatedssuccessfully* .
pam password change = yes
map to guest = bad user
usershare allow guests = yes
usermap.txt
:
!user1 = user1
!user2 = user2
!user3 = user3
...
