How to retrieve the passed in data of an event from an event emitter all in the same component class?
I have a data table whose data is refreshed after an update of one of its elements.
To trigger the data refresh I send an event:
updateEvent = new EventEmitter<{ value: User }>();
refreshListForUser(user: User) {
this.updateEvent.emit({
value: user
});
}
And the event is handled this way:
merge(this.updateEvent, this.searchTermEvent, this.sort.sortChange, this.paginator.page)
.pipe(
startWith({}),
switchMap(() => {
this.isLoadingResults = true;
return this.getUsers(this.searchTerm, this.sort.active, this.sort.direction, this.paginator.pageIndex);
}),
map((usersApi: UsersApi) => {
this.isLoadingResults = false;
this.isRateLimitReached = false;
this.currentPageNumber = usersApi.currentPageNumber;
this.elementsPerPage = usersApi.elementsPerPage;
this.totalElements = usersApi.totalElements;
this.totalPages = usersApi.totalPages;
return usersApi.users;
}),
catchError(() => {
this.isLoadingResults = false;
this.isRateLimitReached = true;
return observableOf();
})
).subscribe((users: User) => {
this.dataSource.data = users;
});
}
It works as expected, the data is refreshed all right and the list is up to date.
But how to retrieved the user object passed in the event ?
And should I use an event emitter for such a use case ? It's all within one class after all.
I have the same question with another similar event in the same component class.
It would be nice to retrieve the search string from the search event, instead of using a member variable:
searchTermEvent = new EventEmitter<{ value: string }>();
searchTerm: string;
search(searchTerm: string) {
this.searchTerm = searchTerm;
this.searchTermEvent.emit({
value: this.searchTerm
});
if (this.paginator) {
this.paginator.firstPage();
}
}
