Android: Detect whether display is round or normal?
When developing for Android Wear, there are two different files for the dimens.xml
which enables me to add a padding of 0dp to squared watches and a padding of 32 for round watches. This is because people using a square layout don't need too much padding whereas people with round layouts need some padding in order to not have their content blocked by the device's shape.
Recently, manufacturers started to offer watches that feature a full android OS. Not Wear but actual Android. I want to make my app display its content in the best possible way depending on whether the display is round or has real "corners" like a "normal" phone.
How would you go about that? Android Wear deals with it by having the BoxInsetLayout
available to use but this is limited to Android Wear, it's not available on the normal Android
