How to have different values for the same nginx directive at main and server levels?

In my nginx module, I have a directive which is basically an on/off flag. At the main level, I want it to be on but want it to be off for certain virtual servers.
My ngx_command_t array is as follows:
ngx_string("my_directive"), /* directive */
NGX_HTTP_MAIN_CONF|NGX_CONF_FLAG|NGX_HTTP_SRV_CONF,
ngx_conf_set_flag_slot,
NGX_HTTP_MAIN_CONF_OFFSET,
offsetof(ngx_http_casb_main_conf_t,enabled),
NULL //Post callback
With this if I say "my_directive" on at the main level and "my_directive off" at the virtual server level, I get an error saying the directive is a duplicate. How do I implement my requirement?
c nginx networking nginx-reverse-proxy nginx-config
