Microsoft Word: Text Colour Palette results in GREY-tints (Windows 10)

I have a software problem using Windows 10 and Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010 (64 bit).



In Microsoft Word the TEXT COLOUR PALETTE doesn't work correctly (in ribbon, tab Start):



If I unfold Text Colour menu, I get a Text Colour Palette (10 columns x 6 colours = 60 colours), plus (below the palette) a row of 10 rainbow colours.




  • If I select text and apply a colour from the TEXT COLOUR PALETTE, then every colour results in GREY TINTS (black/white tone), NOT IN COLOUR in my Word document.

  • If I apply one of the 10 Default Colours below the pallette (from the row containing 'rainbow colours') it works fine.

  • The problem with the colour palette only occurs in Word. If I use the Colour Palette in Excel, it works perfectly fine too.


I could not find a working solution on the internet. (Tried 'Ease of Access' and 'Left-Alt Shift Print Screen' without success.)



Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

I have a software problem using Windows 10 and Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010 (64 bit).



In Microsoft Word the TEXT COLOUR PALETTE doesn't work correctly (in ribbon, tab Start):



If I unfold Text Colour menu, I get a Text Colour Palette (10 columns x 6 colours = 60 colours), plus (below the palette) a row of 10 rainbow colours.




  • If I select text and apply a colour from the TEXT COLOUR PALETTE, then every colour results in GREY TINTS (black/white tone), NOT IN COLOUR in my Word document.

  • If I apply one of the 10 Default Colours below the pallette (from the row containing 'rainbow colours') it works fine.

  • The problem with the colour palette only occurs in Word. If I use the Colour Palette in Excel, it works perfectly fine too.


I could not find a working solution on the internet. (Tried 'Ease of Access' and 'Left-Alt Shift Print Screen' without success.)



Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

I have a software problem using Windows 10 and Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010 (64 bit).



In Microsoft Word the TEXT COLOUR PALETTE doesn't work correctly (in ribbon, tab Start):



If I unfold Text Colour menu, I get a Text Colour Palette (10 columns x 6 colours = 60 colours), plus (below the palette) a row of 10 rainbow colours.




  • If I select text and apply a colour from the TEXT COLOUR PALETTE, then every colour results in GREY TINTS (black/white tone), NOT IN COLOUR in my Word document.

  • If I apply one of the 10 Default Colours below the pallette (from the row containing 'rainbow colours') it works fine.

  • The problem with the colour palette only occurs in Word. If I use the Colour Palette in Excel, it works perfectly fine too.


I could not find a working solution on the internet. (Tried 'Ease of Access' and 'Left-Alt Shift Print Screen' without success.)



Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

I have a software problem using Windows 10 and Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010 (64 bit).



In Microsoft Word the TEXT COLOUR PALETTE doesn't work correctly (in ribbon, tab Start):



If I unfold Text Colour menu, I get a Text Colour Palette (10 columns x 6 colours = 60 colours), plus (below the palette) a row of 10 rainbow colours.




  • If I select text and apply a colour from the TEXT COLOUR PALETTE, then every colour results in GREY TINTS (black/white tone), NOT IN COLOUR in my Word document.

  • If I apply one of the 10 Default Colours below the pallette (from the row containing 'rainbow colours') it works fine.

  • The problem with the colour palette only occurs in Word. If I use the Colour Palette in Excel, it works perfectly fine too.


I could not find a working solution on the internet. (Tried 'Ease of Access' and 'Left-Alt Shift Print Screen' without success.)



Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

Go to the Page Layout tab of Word and check the Theme and Color settings. It sounds like it is set to Grayscale.

Also check the following path for the default theme colors, which should be available to all Office applications.

Compare that to what is in your custom user theme folders. Is there something in the custom path that is overriding the defaults?

    Go to the Page Layout tab of Word and check the Theme and Color settings. It sounds like it is set to Grayscale.

    Also check the following path for the default theme colors, which should be available to all Office applications.



    C:Program FilesMicrosoft OfficeDocument Themes 14Theme Colors



    Compare that to what is in your custom user theme folders. Is there something in the custom path that is overriding the defaults?



    C:Users\AppDataRoamingMicrosoftTemplatesDocument Themes



    Finally, have your tried Repairing Office using the Control Panel?
