The same DICOM AET on different and separate devices (having different IP addresses) - allowed?

Can I use the same DICOM AETs on two devices having different IP addresses (but still in the same IPv4 subnet)? So that they would work independently. Can I then configure them to communicate with each other or only with different DICOM network partners?
I am using cloned machines and it is easier to just change the IP addresses and hostnames than also the AETs.
I could only find information here (but I cannot say if it is official or find any reference to DICOM standard):

A little different question was asked here:
using single AE title to more than one Ipaddress

Why doesn't the linked question answer your own? According to this answer, only addresses of the same machine can share the same DICOM AE title.

"A single Application Entity Title can be associated with multiple network addresses assigned to a single system (e.g., multi-homed host)."

It is not how DICOM wants to have the AETs. However, it should work as long as you do not use any network services in which the server needs to open an association with the client (e.g. Storage Commitment, Retrieve). However, finding issues caused by AET clashes can be really hard, so I think you would be better off to spend the time needed for the AET changes.
