Speakers detected upon device manager “scan for hardware changes” but do not survive a reboot

I have a strange problem on Windows 10.



Usually upon reboot I only have one audio device available, the laptop speakers. If I go into the device manager, the others don't show up (I have a Phillips monitor speaker - display-port and an HP monitor speaker - HDMI)



If I scan for hardware changes from the device manager then it detects them and everything works fine.



until reboot that is...



then the same thing happens again.



Anyone know how I can make these detected devices "stick"?
