mongodb: adding to different collections, yet referencing with autogenerated id

To train myself in MEAN-stack development, I'm building a simple web-app, where someone can place an order. When the order comes in, a new task has to be created, so the user knows that he needs to start working on a task after an order has come in.
So basically, I execute a function when the user adds the order, where I'm adding the orderdetails to my mongoDB collection "orders". In that same function, I want to create a new task in my collection "tasks" that references to the order. But since the id of the order is autogenerated in MongoDB, how can I put a reference in the collection "tasks" to the orderID, since I don't know what that ID will be?
I can always generate my own orderId's, but I wanted to know if there was a way to do it with autogenerated id's.
Thank you
