Error running linux kernel from ubuntu : ptrace invalid argument
I am trying to run a UML kernel from ubuntu on my windows computer. I downloaded the linux kernel version 4.19.1 and the gentoo file system. I can successfully make the config and the executable, but when i try to run the kernel , I get the following error:
./linux mem=1024m ubda=Gentoo-AMD64-root_fs
Core dump limits :
soft - 0
hard - NONE
Checking that ptrace can change system call numbers...check_ptrace : failed to modify system call: Invalid argument
From googling this problem, I believe it is a issue with the ptrace library versions. http://man7.org/linux/man-pages/man2/ptrace.2.html
"On hosts with 2.6 kernel headers, PTRACE_SETOPTIONS is declared with
a different value than the one for 2.4. This leads to applications
compiled with 2.6 kernel headers failing when run on 2.4 kernels.
This can be worked around by redefining PTRACE_SETOPTIONS to
PTRACE_OLDSETOPTIONS, if that is defined"
Can anyone tell me if this is the issue I am having, and if so how can I fix it? How do I redefine the options like it says?
