I have a computer with a dual boot Ubuntu/Windows that I use to work and play while I'm traveling.

Yesterday there was no issues with either Linux or Windows, but since today, I can't connect to the WiFi of the hostel I stay with Ubuntu. It works perfectly with Windows or my phone.

As my Ubuntu boot could connect to my phone with a shared connection, I guessed the problem didn't come from a network card driver or anything.

I installed a WiFi analyser on my phone to help me with the problem and I found out that the WiFi is set to work with channel 13+9 and when I typed the command sudo iw list | grep Freq -A14, this appeared:

Frequencies:
* 2412 MHz [1] (20.0 dBm)
* 2417 MHz [2] (20.0 dBm)
* 2422 MHz [3] (20.0 dBm)
* 2427 MHz [4] (20.0 dBm)
* 2432 MHz [5] (20.0 dBm)
* 2437 MHz [6] (20.0 dBm)
* 2442 MHz [7] (20.0 dBm)
* 2447 MHz [8] (20.0 dBm)
* 2452 MHz [9] (20.0 dBm)
* 2457 MHz [10] (20.0 dBm)
* 2462 MHz [11] (20.0 dBm)
* 2467 MHz [12] (20.0 dBm)
* 2472 MHz [13] (disabled)
* 2484 MHz [14] (disabled)

Frequencies:
* 5180 MHz [36] (30.0 dBm) (no IR)
* 5200 MHz [40] (30.0 dBm) (no IR)
* 5220 MHz [44] (30.0 dBm) (no IR)
* 5240 MHz [48] (30.0 dBm) (no IR)
* 5260 MHz [52] (30.0 dBm) (no IR, radar detection)
* 5280 MHz [56] (30.0 dBm) (no IR, radar detection)
* 5300 MHz [60] (30.0 dBm) (no IR, radar detection)
* 5320 MHz [64] (30.0 dBm) (no IR, radar detection)
* 5500 MHz [100] (30.0 dBm) (no IR, radar detection)
* 5520 MHz [104] (30.0 dBm) (no IR, radar detection)
* 5540 MHz [108] (30.0 dBm) (no IR, radar detection)
* 5560 MHz [112] (30.0 dBm) (no IR, radar detection)
* 5580 MHz [116] (30.0 dBm) (no IR, radar detection)
* 5600 MHz [120] (30.0 dBm) (no IR, radar detection)

With this result I guessed that, it was a channel issue.

After few research on internet, I found out that I needed to change region with the command sudo iw reg set [Country code]'.

But even with that, the channels 13 and 14 are still disabled (even if the country is indeed changed sudo iw reg get:

global
country MY: DFS-FCC
(2402 - 2482 @ 40), (N/A, 20), (N/A)
(5170 - 5250 @ 80), (N/A, 24), (N/A), AUTO-BW
(5250 - 5330 @ 80), (N/A, 24), (0 ms), DFS, AUTO-BW
(5490 - 5650 @ 160), (N/A, 24), (0 ms), DFS
(5735 - 5835 @ 80), (N/A, 24), (N/A)

I read here and there that if it didn't work, Japan and UK were working. So I tried but without any success. It still disabled though it says that it takes the frequency between 2402 MHz and 2482 MHz (2472 MHz for channel 13).

I don't understand what happened since yesterday... The only thing I could have done is updating-upgrading apt paquets (I did try to update-ugrade again with a shared connection, but it didnt't solve anything).

So do you have any clue to help me ?

Thank you in advance !
