Creating a shared disk space between 2 VMs on separate hosts and isolated networks

0

We are trying to create a pathway to move SQL backups from production to our test environment via shared diskspace so everything is up to date. They are on isolated networks and separated via firewall. I tried following this short guide on creating a shared disk but once it was set up they functioned as completely separate disks.

Is there some reason this isn't working? Is there a better way to do this?

We are using vSphere v6.0.0
