Can Intrusion Prevention Systems decrypt encrypted traffic at the firewall?
I manage a LAN for a small business, and someone recently told me we should pay for Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS) at our firewall. He told me Google Chrome can be set up to share the decryption keys with the firewall using an MS Windows group policy.
But I don't think it works this way. Why would Google Chrome respect a Windows GPO to share decryption keys with a firewall? Is there any evidence for this to be true, or is this guy full of bs?
I understand IPS systems can do traffic analysis, but I always believed endpoint-to-endpoint encryption prevents deep packet inspection.
