Solaris 10 Tweepy SSLError

0

I am getting an bad handshake error when I try to make a call to the update_status function. Here is a snippet of the code that produces the error.

auth = tweepy.OAuthHandler(consumer_key, consumer_secret)
auth.set_access_token(access_token, access_token_secret)
api = tweepy.API(auth)
api.update_status('first test post')

Here is the error message.

tweepy.error.TweepError: Failed to send request: HTTPSConnectionPool(host='api.twitter.com', port=443): Max retries exceeded with url: /1.1/statuses/update.json?status=first+test+post (Caused by SSLError(SSLError("bad handshake: Error([('SSL routines', 'ssl3_get_server_certificate', 'certificate verify failed')],)",),))

The code is running on a Solaris 10 server and python2.7 is being used. I have the necessary openSSL packages from openCSW installed. I have updated certifi and pyOpenSSL using pip and openCSW respectively. I also tried to set the verify value in stream.py(inside the tweepy library) to false, but the same error message occurs. Any suggestions?

Edit: I have already tried setting verified to false as suggested in this post: Tweepy SSLError regarding ssl certificate. However I am still getting the error message.

Final Edit: I could not find a solution to fix the Tweepy SSL error. Instead, I just used the requests_oauthlib module instead of the Tweepy to access the Twitter API. This solved my issue.
