What a beautiful child!
Can I report it as
He exclaimed that the child was beautiful,
He exclaimed that it was a beautiful child.
(Subordinate exclamatory clauses generally function as extraposed subject)
Is there anything wrong in the second sentence? Please explain.

It is a question that came in a competitive exam..these 2 options were there but they considered option 1 as correct.
