Sharing ports from another Mac

0

I have an old iMac (2011) with ancients ports, like USB type A. Today I purchased an iPad Pro, which comes with an usb-c to usb-c cable.

Now I do have my job’s MacBook Pro with me that has USB-c ports on it.

So my question is: is it possible to plug my iPad on the MacBook Pro and see it on my iMac? I tried in the Sharing panel of the System Preferences but couldn’t see it. I was hoping to find something akin to the "share CD drive" thing from another era...

It’s not the end of the world if it’s not possible of course, i’ll buy a cable in the next few days, but it would be cool!

  • Why not get a USB-A to USB-C adapter? I've seen them as low as $8 on Amazon.

  • I mentioned at the end of my question that I'd be buying one soon enough, and indeed I already have. I wanted to know if it was possible so that a) I could have plugged my new iPad right away and b) I would know in the future.
