If you have live USB of any linux distro available, run OS from USB stick and see if problem persist. If so, you might damaged your battery somehow. check pins on battery etc. If live system works, there's problem with your ubuntu 18 installation. backup reinstall or keep on searching for solution.

          • Could you try it on live system and see if battery is detected? Does your bios say anything about battery? Check if your battery is detected by bios. I began to think its a hardware issue and you will have to replace battery.
