rtorrent Failed to add torrent. Incorrect downloads directory

0

Using rtorrent/rutorrent, I'm able to seed torrents with media located in /3TB2 but not able to add any in a downloading state that point to that directory. I'm attempting to add the torrent via rutorrent web interface. I receive the error:

Failed to add torrent. Incorrect downloads directory

I'm running Ubuntu 18.10. I installed rtorrent/rutorrent via rinst script.

I've edited the rutorrent config.php to change the topdirectory to /, but that did not fix the issue.

Why isn't rtorrent/rutorrent able to save to the desired location?

Additional Information:
I am able to add a torrent using the default save location and then 'Save to...' to move to the desired location. I can then download and seed. This is still not ideal.
