How to pass “[FromBody]string value” parameter to REST post using HttpURLConnection android?

0

I am new to Web API. I want to add a student name to the list. The API call is ok, but value(Parameter Value) comes null. This is snip of android code.

URL url = new URL(mUrlStr);

HttpURLConnection conn = (HttpURLConnection) url.openConnection();
conn.setConnectTimeout(15000);
conn.setRequestMethod("POST");
conn.setRequestProperty("Content-Type", "application/json");
conn.setDoOutput(true);
conn.setDoInput(true);
conn.setUseCaches(false);

OutputStream outputStream = conn.getOutputStream();
BufferedWriter writer = new BufferedWriter(new OutputStreamWriter(outputStream, "UTF-8"));
writer.write(name);
writer.flush();
writer.close();

Using android code, debugging in visual studio
