My mouse is not working

-1

My computer's mouse is not working. It was fine till I downloaded a software a few days ago.
I have tried the following till now:
1. Resetting windows
2. I had changed the USB port.
3. I tried windows 10 safe mode.
4. I uninstalled the software, which was responsible for the problem.

The weird thing is that sometimes mouse does work. It works how it is supposed to do.

My system's details are as following

  1. OS:Window 10

I think, I am doing something really silly here.
I will be really grateful for any help.

What software? The fact that you haven’t gone into more detail makes me think it was not exactly from a legitimate source. If that’s the case then who knows what malware could be lurking on your computer now.

  • @JamesP It was a screen recording software. My friend gave it to me. Before installing that every thing was fine. Is there a way to remove this malware?

It could be a faulty driver left behind by the program after you uninstalled it. Try unplugging the mouse, remove all currently installed mouse drivers, reboot windows, and then plug the mouse back in.

Try the following, you'll only need a keyboard for this.

  1. Press: Windows Key + R (to open Run)

  2. Type: devmgmt.msc

  3. Press: Enter (on your keyboard)

--- With the Device Manager window active ---

  4. Press: Tab (on your keyboard) this will select the windows main pane.

  5. Navigate to the Mice and other pointing devices category using the Up/Down keys.

  6. Press: Right (on your keyboard) this will expand the category tree.

  7. Press: Down (on your keyboard) and select each mouse driver.

  8. Press: Delete (on your keyboard) initiate the uninstallation dialog.

  9. Press: Enter (on your keyboard) to confirm the uninstallation of the driver.
