iostat : low w/s & wkB/s , high w_await

I'm suffering performance issues with my application, iostat shows low w/s & wkB/s but high w_await. How can I know the root cause or any suggestion ?

There can be lots of causes. But have a look at this and see if you also have processes sitting inDstate.
