What does the phrase “getting a taste for” mean?
In a movie, I have seen the following scene:
- A dog licked a face of a man.
- The man said something.
- The dog was barking with the following subtitle: "I wasn't licking. I was getting a taste for when you were dead."
I do not understand what this means.

figurative. A slight experience, received or given; a slight show or
