Encrypt PostgreSQL Column

I have a pretty large database ~80 million rows in a Postgres table, with identifying information in one column. I need to encrypt this column (run an update), while preserving duplicates. If a field is repeated, it should be hashed identically to allow some aggregate or analytical queries. The data will never be sent over a network, and while decrypting would be nice, it is not strictly necessary. I also need the encryption to generate a small hash for each field, to allow for quicker computation. Would appreciate any help/advice on how to achieve this.
Thanks!
