What are you doing with “your efforts”?

0

We're having a debate at work, and I need some input.

I proposed some verbiage that read as follows: "take your efforts to the next level".

A colleague, feels "take efforts to the next level" sounds better.

Aside from "take efforts" sounding awkward to my ear, I also feel removing the word "your" ultimately changes the meaning of what was being said.

Any thoughts?

Take your efforts to the next level sound to me like the same kind of vague "pseudo-inspirational" corporate morale-building sloganizing that ends up with posters on the office wall saying Think! That's my only thought on the matter (I have no opinion on whether it's "improved" by including the word your, for example).

  • No, but I still keep Dilbert books in my loo to pass the time while waiting for nature to take its course. And I sometimes listen to Scott Adams' daily musings on Youtube.

I agree with @FumbleFingers, but am more or less resigned to the fact that employers will never cease flogging their employees with such attempts. And I will never cease being amused by them. When someone tells me "There is no I in team" I always point out that me is half that word.
